Keihly is passionate about designing affordable housing and schools that are not just functional but healing and transformative for those who use them. She thrives on projects of all scales, from designing community engagement experiences and temporary parks like PARK(ing) Day to long-term buildings, design guidelines, and master plans that can impact communities for generations. Regardless of scale, her work is always guided by a commitment to sustainability and creating healthy, energy-efficient spaces that reduce environmental impact.

Her dedication to sustainability is intertwined with a focus on urban design principles that make communities more efficient, walkable, and enjoyable. Keihly believes in the power of great design to improve lives, making spaces that are not only beautiful but accessible and meaningful for all.

Q&A

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration being in and studying nature, traveling, science, biology, geography, and observing architecture while biking.

What gets you moving, motivated or excited?

Learning excites me, especially from people who are enthusiastic and passionate about the topic.

If I wasn’t an architect, I’d probably be…

an urban designer/pedestrian & bicycle planner who gets hired by cities and towns to help make traveling to and through their city/town via bike, public transport, or foot more appealing, safer, more connected and accessible.

What’s your favorite invention?

The bicycle - it is perfect for moving meditation. Riding a bike allows one to be fully present in time and space, while exploring new areas and observing details in familiar places. It’s a very efficient mode of transport that is also good for your body and soul.
