Studio G Architects is proud to announce the promotion of Marylee Mercy to Principal, the hiring of multi-family housing renovation and rehabilitation expert Mike Chavez as Associate and several additional staff promotions. These leadership appointments reflect the firm’s continued investment in its people and its commitment to expanding expertise in housing, community development, and mission-driven design.
Since joining the firm, Mercy has played a pivotal role in shaping Studio G Architecture’s Education Studio, design excellence, mentoring emerging professionals, and strengthening relationships with clients and community partners. Her thoughtful leadership, collaborative approach, and commitment to creating spaces that improve lives have helped advance some of the firm’s most impactful projects.
As Principal, Mercy will continue to guide the firm’s strategic growth while leading multidisciplinary teams focused on delivering innovative community-centered design solutions.
Additionally, Studio G Architects welcomes Michael Chavez as Associate in the firm’s Housing Studio. Chavez brings extensive experience working alongside nonprofit organizations and mission-driven clients, with deep expertise in affordable housing, adaptive reuse and renovation projects. As a founder of Social Impact Collective, he combines entrepreneurial leadership with technical knowledge that strengthens Studio G Architects’ expanding housing practice.
Chavez and Studio G Architects have previously collaborated on the adaptive reuse design of 26 Lawrence Avenue for Heading Home, to transform an existing building into a family shelter, while also partnering on additional housing initiatives that advance equitable community development.
