– Placemaking advocate Fred Kent

Sam is a designer at heart, known for his holistic approach that seeks big-picture purpose in solutions at all scales. With a strong interest in environmentally sensitive and socially responsible projects, he brings a deep appreciation for building science and high-performance design, striving to balance energy and carbon savings, financial efficiency, and design excellence.

A Regenerative Design Coordinator at Studio G, Sam helps advance the firm’s commitment to climate-responsive, low-carbon architecture by integrating regenerative thinking into project workflows and design culture.

His professional experience spans various projects, including large-scale mixed-use developments, residential master plans, PHIUS-certified affordable housing, and educational facilities. Sam’s expertise covers the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual design through construction, delivering results that align with high environmental and performance standards.

Sam has further honed communication, active listening, and time management skills by teaching first-year students at Wentworth Institute of Technology. He encourages students to examine their thought processes to build intuition and adaptability—a principle he also applies in practice. This introspective approach helps him understand client motivations and craft spaces that resonate with their users.

Sam’s design philosophy centers on thoughtful decision-making, balancing opportunities, risks, budgets, and values to create insightful and empathetic spaces. Guided by an iterative process, he believes revisiting and refining design choices leads to the best project outcomes. Every decision remains open to improvement and ensures that the final product genuinely serves the client and community.
