As Principal, Gaby is involved in firm management, business development and staff recruitment. She leads the Housing Studio at Studio G, working closely with her teams of project managers, project architects, job captains, and designers through the entire life cycle of a project from concept through construction. Originally from Peru, Gaby moved to Boston to pursue her degree in architecture, a field that combines her two loves of math and art. Initially drawn to Studio G 14 years ago because of its focus on sustainability, Gaby uses her creative talents to design impactful, energy-efficient buildings that are both beautiful and cost-effective.
A good architect must first understand their client’s vision and Gaby truly enjoys collaborating with clients in the early stages of the design to tease out their dreams for the project. Through techniques such as workshops and visioning sessions, she listens to all stakeholders to understand how they want—and need—the space to work for them. Holding that vision at the forefront of the design process allows Gaby to deliver projects that translate those dreams into reality.
Gaby considers effective design to be honest, simple, timeless, and sustainable while at the same time functional and elegant. She enjoys working with clients who are mission-driven, and designing for a broader community inclusive of all races and socio-economic levels. Gaby is passionate about providing affordable housing options to underserved communities and believes deeply that everyone deserves a safe place to live.
