One week before the Residences at Lawrence Hill (TRLH) ribbon cutting, the Provincetown Independent published a Q&A with Gail Sullivan and Martha Rothman, an architect who taught a course on Bauhaus and modernist houses at the Open University of Wellfleet this spring. The Q&A discusses the design of the TRLH development as it relates to color choice, the topography of the site, and precedents in the town.
“I know there’s a discussion out there about the design, and I think that’s a good thing,” Martha Rothman said in the article.
“We did a deep dive on the local vernacular,” Gail said. “We drove around Wellfleet, we took photos, we sketched, we compiled ‘precedent boards.’ She continued later, “I think the language that we developed is rooted in Wellfleet and relates to the specific site and our ideas about creating community there.”
